Job Skills & Employability Training
Focus Forward was designed as an extension of the goals of the Focus Academy Transition Program. Participants learn and practice common employability and job skills, including time management, workplace etiquette, interpersonal skills, and more. Participants can work at supported community-based training sites including Focus Café, serving customers, making coffee, and putting learned skills into real-world practice.
Participants are front and center in the on-campus enterprise, Good Dog Treats. Producing the organic, all-natural treats provides valuable entrepreneurship education, as clients are involved with all aspects of the business. Produced exclusively by Focus Forward participants, Good Dog allows clients to experience the many facets of running a business, from production to marketing to retail sales. Good Dog Treats are available online (available soon) and on location at Focus Café. Online order fulfillment is handled by program participants with staff supervision.
